Terms of treatment
The terms on which Praxis Pelvia treats. They apply to statutory, private and self-pay patients alike and are handed to you in printed form at the first appointment.
Terms and conditions
1. Scope and contracting parties
These terms apply to all treatment contracts between Praxis Pelvia — Marlene Ostwald, Kalkumer Straße 84, 40468 Düsseldorf (the practice) and the patient.
A treatment contract within the meaning of §§ 630a ff. BGB comes into existence when treatment begins in the practice, not by sending the booking form. A booking request made on this website is an enquiry; it is not binding on either side, and no contract is concluded online.
2. Treatment, cooperation and limits
The practice provides physiotherapy in accordance with recognised professional standards. Physiotherapy is a service, not a work contract: the practice owes careful treatment, not a particular result. No promise of cure or of a specific outcome is made.
Physiotherapy does not replace medical clarification. The practice will refer you to a physician where findings require it, and may decline or discontinue treatment where it is not indicated.
Treatment requires your cooperation, in particular truthful information about your history, medication and current complaints.
3. Examinations and consent
Every examination and every treatment technique is explained in advance and requires your consent. An internal vaginal or rectal examination is offered as an option; it is never a condition of treatment and may be declined or interrupted at any time without giving reasons and without consequence for the rest of the treatment.
You may be accompanied by a person of your choice, or ask for a member of staff as a chaperone, at any appointment and at no cost.
Consent to an internal examination is documented in writing in the practice and a copy is given to you.
4. Appointments, lateness and cancellation
Appointments are individually reserved for you and are, in effect, fixed appointments (§ 615 BGB).
Please cancel at least 24 hours before the appointment, by telephone, in writing or by email. Cancellations within 24 hours, and appointments not attended, are charged at 80 % of the treatment fee — for a 60-minute initial assessment therefore €78.40. This fee is not reimbursed by health insurers.
The charge is not made where you were prevented for reasons you could not influence and which you tell us about without delay — sudden illness, an accident, a family emergency. We do not ask for evidence.
If you arrive late, the remaining time of the reserved appointment is used; the full fee is payable.
5. Prescriptions and statutory insurance
For treatment at the expense of a statutory health insurer, the original Heilmittelverordnung must be presented at the first appointment. Treatment must begin within 28 days of the date of issue, or within 14 days where the physician has marked urgent need; otherwise the prescription loses validity and a new one must be obtained.
You pay the statutory co-payment of 10 % of the treatment cost plus €10 per prescription pursuant to § 61 SGB V, unless you present a current exemption certificate. The co-payment is collected by the practice on behalf of your insurer.
If a prescription is interrupted for more than 14 days without a medically justified reason, the insurer may refuse payment for the remaining sessions; the practice will then invoice them to you at the private rate.
Services not covered by your prescription — EMG biofeedback in particular — are self-pay services, are named and priced before they are provided, and are invoiced separately.
6. Fees and payment
Self-pay and private fees follow the practice's current schedule, which is displayed in the practice and on the Treatment page of this website. Prices are valid from 1 January 2026. Therapeutic treatment is exempt from VAT under § 4 no. 14 a UStG.
Invoices are payable within 14 days of the invoice date without deduction. Payment in the practice is possible in cash and by card.
Private patients and patients entitled to Beihilfe are the practice's debtors regardless of whether and to what extent their insurer reimburses them.
7. Courses
The post-partum recovery course is booked as a block of eight sessions; the fee of €160 is payable before the first session and covers the place, not the individual attendance.
Cancellation is free of charge up to 14 days before the first session. After that, 50 % of the fee is payable; after the course has begun, the fee is payable in full. A place may be transferred to another person.
The course is certified as a preventive course under § 20 SGB V. Reimbursement is a matter between you and your insurer; the practice issues the attendance certificate but gives no guarantee of reimbursement, and the usual requirement is attendance of at least 80 % of the sessions.
If the practice cancels a course, fees already paid are refunded in full.
8. Data protection and confidentiality
Everybody working in the practice is bound by professional confidentiality under § 203 StGB, including beyond the end of treatment. Information is passed to physicians, family members or third parties only with your explicit consent.
Details of how data is processed are set out in the privacy policy on this website.
9. Liability
The practice is liable without limitation for injury to life, body or health and for intent and gross negligence. In the case of slight negligence the practice is liable only for breach of a material contractual obligation, and then limited to the foreseeable damage typical of this type of contract.
The practice accepts no liability for items brought into the practice, except in cases of intent or gross negligence.
10. Final provisions
German law applies. The place of performance is Düsseldorf.
Should individual provisions be or become invalid, the validity of the remaining provisions is unaffected.
