Pelvic floor physiotherapy · Düsseldorf-Unterrath
Leaks, pain, pressure — we treat what nobody talks about.
Praxis Pelvia is a physiotherapy practice for one thing only: the pelvic floor. Continence, prolapse, recovery after birth, pain with penetration, rehabilitation after pelvic surgery. One patient at a time, behind a closed door, in plain language.
You do not have to explain yourself on the telephone. Use the anonymous self-check — your answers stay in your browser, and your reason for coming is never put in an email.
Six questions. Nothing leaves your device.
Anonymous first step
A six-question self-check that runs entirely in your browser. No account, no tracking, no answer sent to us.
One room, one patient
No shared treatment areas, no curtains. Appointments are spaced so that you do not meet the patient before you.
Physio-Pelvica certified
All three therapists hold the Physio-Pelvica certificate for pelvic floor rehabilitation and refresh it every two years.
Prescription or self-pay
We treat on a Heilmittelverordnung from your doctor and as a self-pay patient. We tell you which applies before you book.

01What we treat
Everybody has a pelvic floor
The pelvic floor is a layered sheet of muscle, fascia and connective tissue slung across the base of the pelvis. It holds the bladder, bowel and — where present — the uterus or the prostate in place, it opens and closes the urethra and the anus, it takes part in sexual function, and it works with the diaphragm and the deep abdominal muscles every time you breathe or lift.
Roughly one adult in four will have a pelvic floor problem at some point. It is not a women's condition, and it is not an age. We treat women, men, and trans and non-binary patients, including after gender-affirming surgery.
- We ask about your anatomy, your history and your symptoms — not about your gender identity, and we never assume one from the other.
- Your name and pronouns in our records are the ones you give us, independently of what is on your insurance card.
- Every examination is explained first, is optional, and can be stopped at any point without giving a reason.
The eight reasons people most often come to us. Every one of them is common, none of them is your fault, and all of them respond to treatment more often than people expect.
- Stress urinary incontinenceLeaking when you cough, lift or run
- Urgency, frequency and overactive bladderSudden urge, going too often, getting up at night
- Pelvic organ prolapseHeaviness, bulging, dragging
- Recovery after birthPost-partum rehabilitation, diastasis recti, scars
- Pain with penetrationDyspareunia, vaginismus, vulvodynia
- Bowel symptoms and anal incontinenceLoss of wind or stool, straining, incomplete emptying
- After prostate surgeryRadical prostatectomy, TURP, radiotherapy
- Trans and non-binary pelvic healthBefore and after gender-affirming surgery
03Treatment & biofeedback
Treatment & biofeedback
Prices are the practice's self-pay rates. With a valid prescription your statutory insurer covers the treatment and you pay only the statutory co-payment.
Initial assessment
€9860 minutes
The full first appointment: history, examination, explanation and a written plan. Everybody starts here.
EMG biofeedback session
€5830 minutes
Surface EMG makes an invisible muscle visible on a screen, so you can see whether you are contracting, releasing, or bracing with everything else.
Post-partum recovery course
€1608 × 60 minutes, groups of six · reimbursed by most statutory insurers
A structured eight-week course for the phase after birth: breathing, pressure, pelvic floor, abdominal wall, and getting back to load.
Continence training after prostate surgery
€7845 minutes
Individual treatment before and after radical prostatectomy, TURP or radiotherapy — sphincter timing, endurance, and a plan for the working day.
Prescription, statutory, private, self-pay
Pelvic floor physiotherapy is usually prescribed by a gynaecologist, urologist, proctologist or GP on a Heilmittelverordnung. Some of what we do — EMG biofeedback in particular — is not in the Heilmittelkatalog and is billed as a self-pay service. We work this out with you before the first appointment, not on the invoice.

What patients say
★★★★★
„I had put this off for nine years. The first appointment was one hour of somebody explaining my own anatomy to me with a model, and nothing else. By the fourth session I could run for a bus again.“
Verified patient · jameda · March 2026
★★★★★
„Came in after my prostatectomy with two pads a day and no idea what I was doing. The biofeedback screen was the moment it clicked — I had been squeezing the entirely wrong thing for six weeks.“
Verified patient · jameda · January 2026
★★★★★
„Asked me at every single step whether it was alright to continue. Nobody has ever done that. Waiting time for the first appointment was five weeks, which is the only reason this is not longer.“

06Video appointment
A video appointment instead
Exercise instruction, bladder and bowel diaries, progress reviews and the whole education part of a treatment work well by video. You will need about a square metre of floor and a door you can close. Video appointments run through a certified German video service; nothing is recorded.
